The Anatomical Series

This series derives its aesthetics from my past studies in biology with direct references to cross-sections of anatomical studies of the human body, including interior organs, and references from the nervous system, skeletal system and muscular system.

The first piece, entitled "Winged Ramos Osis - WingedRamos 1,2,3,4,5 - utilizes forms derived from heart valves, kidneys, intestines, etc, and is fabricated from black walnut, African imbuia and cast bronze. The overall piece is approximately 7 feet tall.

The second piece, entitled "Extended Nuero Galloppholie Creating Another" - Ribs1,2,3,4, RibsClr1 - is fabricated from pau ferro (a Brazilian hardwood), cast bronze, lava rock and cast acrylic resin. Its' inspiration is derived from a cow pelvic bone, as well as human nervous system elements and ribs. The overall piece is approximately 7 feet tall.

The third piece, entitled "A Slice of Life - Looking for Bob on the Magnetic Corner" - 3FacesClr1, 3Faces Clr2 - is fabricated from Brazilian pau ferro, black , cast bronze, cast acrylic resin, piano wires and acrylic rod. Its inspiration is derived from the human tailbone, knee caps, fists and faces. The overall piece is approximately 5 feet tall, and utilizes face casts from myself and two close friends ? Clare Graham and David Heckaman. The casts are made using dental alginate with plaster back-up.

The fourth piece, entitled "Four Guys in the Kitchen" - Totum1, TotumClr1 - is fabricated from cast resin / fiberglass, PVC, piano wires and heater hose, with multi-layered scenic paint for texture and aging. The overall piece is approximately 7 feet tall, and utilizes face casts of four close friends - Mike Riffle, Peter Brenner, Bob Breen and Michael Mayer.

The fifth piece, entitled "Tombal'es" - Tombal'es1, Tombal'es2 - is fabricated from African imbuia and cast bronze. The drums are tunable, melodic tom-toms and have been played in public numerous times as a performance piece during my art exhibits. These drums were the focal point of my Thesis for graduate school. The overall piece is approximately 4 feet tall.
