The TV Series

At the time I created this series, it defined my distaste for network television as a means of mass brain-washing through commercial product bombardment and the subsequent de-humanizing characteristic of our ability to choose what we watch. This series unfolded before cable and satellite TV were common-place, but still holds true to the medium in general, and even transfers to current internet marketing campaigns. Ironically, as I worked on this series, I free-lanced as an assistant Art Director on numerous TV commercials and several TV sitcoms. The end result of my efforts enabled me to continue my art, and ultimately to have my own T.V. Series, but rather than on a network, mine was in my own studio, eventually to be shared via the art gallery scene.

The first piece, entitled "Ed & Sandy" - Ed&SandyClr - utilizes life-cast faces of Ed and Sandy Martin - dear friends and members of the Hollywood community - Ed as a renown cinematographer, and Sandy a Hollywood producer. The piece is fabricated from wood, fiber-glass, glass, plastic, found objects, commercial products and B&W Photo imagery. The overall piece is approximately 6 feet tall, and utilizes face casts of Ed and Sandy Martin.

The second piece, entitled "Jason TV" - JasonTV - is fabricated from wood, fiber-glass, glass, plastic, found objects, commercial products and B&W Photo imagery. Jason Bahret is a friend who worked with me at Disney. The overall piece is approximately 1 foot tall, and utilizes a face cast of Jason using dental alginate that was permitted to dry and shrink outside of the plaster back-up mold. This created a perfectly proportioned "shrunken" version of Jason's face.

The third piece, entitled "Will Call" - Will TV, Will TVClr - is fabricated from wood, fiber-glass, glass, plastic, found objects, commercial products and B&W Photo imagery. Will Jennings is a friend directly associated with my Rock & Roll past. Having met him through Mike Riffle, my long-time friend and former keyboard player from the Sound Barrier (my early claim-to-fame in rock & roll), he continues to tour with high-profile rock bands as a drum, guitar and keyboard technician. The overall piece is approximately 1.5 feet tall and utilizes a face cast of Will Jennings.

The fourth piece, entitled "Quadravision" - Mo&GwenClr - is fabricated from wood, fiber-glass, glass, plastic, found objects, commercial products and B&W Photo imagery. The overall piece is approximately 6 feet tall and utilizes face casts of my wife, Maureen Ryan, and a friend Gwen Foxen.

The fifth piece, entitled "TVME" - TVME - is fabricated from fiber-glass, plastic, glass, found objects, and a discarded TV set. The overall piece is approximately 1 foot tall and utilizes a face cast of me.
